Favorites from the last few months

Maybe I’ve been slacking with keeping my blog up to date or maybe I’ve been super busy. I’ll chalk it up to a little of both. I’ll start with some of my favorite frames from April. As the school year was winding down, I shot a ton of sports. But I also had a few non sports assignments that yielded some nice images. I’ll start with church photos. I’ve covered a lot of services around Easter. However, this was the […]

February 2017: SO MUCH SPORTS

The title says it all. I was inundated with sports coverage in February. I’m not complaining. Basketball. Wrestling. A little swimming. And a just a touch of other stuff. I stayed busy last month. There were many late nights in high school gyms. Here’s a selection of my photos from February 2017. I’ll start off with the non-sports stuff. First is a photo when school bus drivers were preparing to strike. I was sent to an elementary school to get photos […]

Most of the politicians we photograph  are members of the city council or county board. So how does the 1DX hold up with the daily grind of a photojournalist? Very, very well. Let’s start with the easy thing. Sports. As I mentioned in my previous post about this camera, the auto focus speed and accuracy is incredible. Twelve […]

Wrestling

Wrestling may not be in the Olympics by the end of the decade but in Northern Illinois, it will be just as popular as ever. I got my first taste of wrestling in high school. I was dragged in by a good friend that helped start our school’s team. As a new team, we weren’t very good. Wrestling in the 189-pound weight class, I was especially bad. You’d think that some of my opponents wrestled cattle. They were solid muscle. […]
