Favorites from the last few months

Maybe I’ve been slacking with keeping my blog up to date or maybe I’ve been super busy. I’ll chalk it up to a little of both. I’ll start with some of my favorite frames from April. As the school year was winding down, I shot a ton of sports. But I also had a few non sports assignments that yielded some nice images. I’ll start with church photos. I’ve covered a lot of services around Easter. However, this was the […]

Illinois Associated Press Media Editors 2016 contest

The word came down yesterday that five journalists at my paper, myself included, placed in the Illinois Associated Press Media Editors 2016 contest. The Rockford Register Star competes in Division III with the largest papers in the state. I took third place in the feature photo category for my back to school photo. I also took a first place award for my sports feature photo of a volleyball player reacting after a point. The full list of contest winners can be […]

Basketball: That’s a wrap!

There were many late nights in high school gyms. Here’s a selection of my photos from February 2017. I’ll start off with the non-sports stuff. First is a photo when school bus drivers were preparing to strike. I was sent to an elementary school to get photos […]

Images from January 2017

January was a whirlwind. It was a very busy month for me, covering a wide variety of assignments. The month started off with a few very sad assignments. At the end of 2016, our community experienced a lot of loss. On Christmas eve, a house fire killed three kids. There were also two separate shootings that took the lives of teenagers. Their funerals were held at the beginning of 2017. First was the funeral for Lavontay Allen who was shot and […]
