School days

Most of my time at the Rockford Register Star, I have been working a night shift. Only within the last year or so have I been working the days. With that comes more school assignments. It’s easy to go to a school and get photos of kids working in the classroom. That is when you can get them to ignore you. It takes a little patience but if you can become the fly on the wall, you can make some […]

Favorites from March 2014

Here are some of the frames I enjoyed from March. Better late than never. I also had the opportunity to do a few multimedia pieces in March. The first video I did was a quick hit video for a large package we did on the heroin epidemic in our community. I also did a video for St. Patrick’s Day on how to pour the perfect pint of Guinness. After the long winter, we had finally stated to see signs of […]

I was dragged in by a good friend that helped start our school’s team. As a new team, we weren’t very good. Wrestling in the 189-pound weight class, I was especially bad. You’d think that some of my opponents wrestled cattle. They were solid muscle. […]

Do the Rock 2012 mountain bike race

As an avid cyclist, I’m a little surprised by how little bike racing/riding/anything I’ve photographed. It seems to be mostly limited to a little BMX racing over the last few years and nothing else. You can imagine how excited I was to cover a mountain bike race this weekend. Do the Rock 2012 is put on by the Rock Cut Trail Crew. It was a first for me. I didn’t exactly know what to expect. The start/finish line was in […]
