Favorites from the last few months

Maybe I’ve been slacking with keeping my blog up to date or maybe I’ve been super busy. I’ll chalk it up to a little of both. I’ll start with some of my favorite frames from April. As the school year was winding down, I shot a ton of sports. But I also had a few non sports assignments that yielded some nice images. I’ll start with church photos. I’ve covered a lot of services around Easter. However, this was the […]

Odds and ends

I’ve made mention to photos I’ve taken earlier this year that had not yet published. Well, now they’ve published. Here’s a random selection of photos that I’ve been sitting on for a couple of months. I took portraits of several bearded gentlemen for a story (and the cover art) for our 815 Magazine. At the end of 2016, our community experienced a lot of loss. On Christmas eve, a house fire killed three kids. There were also two separate shootings that took the lives of teenagers. Their funerals were held at the beginning of 2017. First was the funeral for Lavontay Allen who was shot and […]

Wrestling

Wrestling may not be in the Olympics by the end of the decade but in Northern Illinois, it will be just as popular as ever. I got my first taste of wrestling in high school. I was dragged in by a good friend that helped start our school’s team. As a new team, we weren’t very good. Wrestling in the 189-pound weight class, I was especially bad. You’d think that some of my opponents wrestled cattle. They were solid muscle. […]
